| The VX-5R features die-cast aluminum
housing, extensive gasketing system. It's tough enough to pass MIL STD 810 for stringent
shock and vibration.
Full 5W power on all three bands
The VX-5R, despite the very small size, provides 5 watts of power output on the 50
MHz and 144 MHz bands and 4.5 watts on 430 MHz.
High capacity, high-power lithium-ion battery pack
The standard FNB-58Li supplies 7.2V and 1100mAh capacity. Depending on output power
settings and operating pattern battery can last up to 12 hours without re-charging.
The VX-5R has 7 microprocessor controlled battery saving features:
- Receive battery saver
- Transmit battery saver, which reduce output power based on incoming signal
strength
- Automatic power off (APO)
- 4 transmit power levels
- Busy lamp off
Ultra-wide frequency coverage
Wide-band VHF/UHF receiver coverage is combined with AM medium-wave and short-wave
reception (1.8~16 MHz). The operating mode is automatically preset for each operating band
with easy manual change via the Menu system.
Spectra-Scope™
The VX5R's Spectra-Scope™ provides a graphical display of five channels above and
below current operating frequency.
Extensive memory system
The VX5R's memory system has 220 "regular" memories, a "home"
channel on each band, 10 pairs of "band limit" memories for programmable memory
scan, and 5 memory groups (up to 24 channels from the "main" memory can be
grouped). The VX5R has up to 8-digit alphanumeric labels for memory channels.
Versatile scanning options
The VX5R can be instructed to scan VFO, memory channels, or a portion of VFO range.
Dual Watch feature lets you monitor a main operating frequency while periodically checking
a second frequency for activity. |
